Scheduling Appointments

When a referral has been received from your GP, a hospital or another specialist, our staff will contact you to make an appointment that works with your schedule. If any Xrays, MRIs or CTs have been done, we request that you please bring any copies of these reports that you may have with you to your appointment.

Appointment Cancellations

We understand that occasionally patients are unable to keep their appointments and need to reschedule or cancel. We would appreciate 24 hours’ notice if you are unable to keep your appointment. If you email or call to cancel an appointment outside business hours, we will contact you as soon as we are able to on the next business day.

Fees

Consultation fees apply when you attend appointments with a specialist in private practice. If you hold a valid Medicare card, a portion of your consultation fee will attract a rebate which our administration staff will process electronically for you. Payment for consultations are not processed until consultations have concluded.

What you’ll discuss at your consultation

Where surgery is indicated, Joe will discuss the procedure with you, go over the consent process and answer any questions that you may have. After your appointment Joe will liaise with your referring doctor and any other relevant parties.

Private Surgery

Joe operates at St John of God Warrnambool. Any out-of-pocket expenses for surgical procedures will depend on the complexity of the procedure and the level of your private health insurance cover. If you have any questions about fees, please discuss them with our administration staff at your visit or by calling the practice.

Public Surgery

Joe operates at South West Health Care Warrnambool and Camperdown campuses and Portland District Health. Our administration staff will process any public hospital paperwork required, and you will be placed on a public wait list. The Elective Surgery Clinic at the public hospitals will contact you when your surgery is being scheduled.
